I've searched up and down numerous boards to find out whether or not the Ryzen 5 is compatible with the AB Pro4 but haven't found any definitive answers -- some say yes, some say no, others have no idea and just suggest I go with the instead.

My question, of course, is: does the AB Pro4 support the Ryzen 5 ? If so, which bios version? I'm rather worried about getting my processor and not being able to boot in the first time I put everything together, and the headache of requesting a bootkit from AMD I feel will take a lot more time than necessary. It's worth mentioning that I bought my AB a literal day before the was pushed to online outlets.

Thank you for any and all help! TooQik is correct. Prior to removing your current processor you will want to flash to 4. Since your board is already at 4.

Nothing here. Move on! Thank you both for the help -- I'm now a proud owner of an R5 :.

Couldn't opt to go with the headache of requesting a bootkit and don't have the money for an APU. Thanks again. No worries!

Good luck with your build. I'm sure you'll be more than happy with your Im using and AB pro4, and yeah it need patch to 4. The only problem i got in 4. Have flashed the BIOS to 4. Double check the BIOS upgrade you did.

Flashing from and and old to the last ver without flashing the bridge bios may your issue, but it's hard to know due there is no information about things regarding. I just got a R5 for Christmas and put it in my pc. It didn? I looked it up then found out about BIOS updates did those and the bridge 3. Took it to 4. I need help. This page was generated in 0.AMD has a new motherboard chipset that marks a hard cutoff in support for older processors. This commitment has lasted nearly four years and encapsulates the first era of Ryzen. But that time has come to an end.

An AMD representative explained the cutoff is aimed at making space for the wide variety of future processors the B will support. The B moves up to USB 3. The B now supports dual GPUs, a feature previously reserved for the X, as well as overclocking. The B takes the place of the B, which launched inand should be set to launch on new motherboards starting June AMD has provided some more detail on just how powerful they are.

The X features all four cores on a single CCX, rather than splitting the processing cores in separates clusters. AMD says this enables better cache utilization, resulting in lower core-to-core latency and better overall performance. AMD cites gains of up to 1. Since AMD made these comparisons, Intel launched its own 10th-gen desktop chipswhich now feature hyperthreading at the Core i3 level. That makes the Core i and Ryzen 3 equal in cores and threads. Though the X has just four cores, the simultaneous multithreading gives it more threads than the Core i5.

Aside from the Core i, we observe lower average frame rates from the post-patch Intel processors, though the variances only amount to one or two frames per second. AMD’s new chipset drops support for older CPUs to prepare for Ryzen’s future

What's the point of this? Where's the GTX ti? The simply result in every CPU being able to feed it enough data so scores are almost similar. Hence anomalies like having the or k often being better than the K, which should be impossible considering the higher clocks. Then there's the gaming suite chosen. Old Far Cry? The 5th is out. But yes, this shows that for anything below ti, you're good with pretty much all of these CPUs. Yet it doesn't tell the whole story, and soon a new GPU generation will be released, probably introducing many here to GTX ti levels of performance, so testing with it does make sense.

Would the k cost what it does today without Ryzen? They would still be feeding us quad cores on the same 14nm process. Considering Anandtech got caught by the HPET bug and you never see it mentioned in any reviews until now. So now i question each review I have seen and will see unless in mentioned. The credibility of all benchmarks are in question unless it clear HPET is disabled. Good thing you script handles that, thank you for let me know.Products Phones Laptops Desktops.

Not reaching max boost with Ryzen 5 2600X

I decided to wait for Ryzen and during the last weeks I was choosing and purchasing all the parts needed. The PC keeps freezing every few minutes! Something is really wrong. It has been working flawlessly in my old PC for years.

It can be browsing the net, installing something, or even sitting idle in the desktop. Tests already performed Software: it happens since Windows 10 was just installed fresh, so I don't think it's a software issue.

All drivers are up-to-date as far as I can tell. I tried with 1 RAM stick only, both sticks, but it does not help.

When using one single stick I always used slot A2, as instructed in the manual of the motherboard. I checked all connections to the motherboard, all cables are tightly attached.

Everything I could test seems to be OK. So I'm starting to think that either: I screwed something up. It's my first PC build; I had upgraded almost everything in my old PC without problems, and I think I assembled everything correctly in the new one, but maybe I overlooked something. Some component is defective. But, which one??? CPUs almost never fail, right?
