Entirely freeway, it runs for The western terminus is at a partial interchange with I west of Ann Arbor. East of that section, M passes through woodlands and fields in Washtenaw County.
In Wayne Countythe freeway returns to a suburban area of mixed residential neighborhoods and light industrial areas. It crosses two different rivers and a pair of rail lines as it approaches Detroit's inner suburbs, where it terminates at an interchange between I and I When the state's highway system was first signed inthere was a different M that ran the length of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan.
This was later replaced by a pair of different US Highways in the s and s. Another M was designated that lasted until the s. During the s and s, M was moved to the freeway alignment it currently uses; sections of the former route are still maintained by the Michigan Department of Transportation MDOT as unsigned highways.
This is a partial interchange ; only traffic from eastbound I can access eastbound M, and traffic from westbound M must follow westbound I From this junction, M runs northeasterly through suburban Scio Township. The freeway is bordered by residential subdivisions to the southeast and woodlands to the northwest.
M curves around to the east through an interchange that has ramps that connect Miller and Maple roads; the ramps connect to Maple Road through a pair of roundabouts. The freeway turns northeasterly after the interchange with M Once across the county line, the M freeway runs through residential subdivisions from the western Detroit suburbs.
There is an interchange for Beck Road as M turns back to the east. Johns Golf Course. The freeway through this area curves around a bit north of its previous course. As M nears the Livonia city line, it meets an interchange with I and I that marks the eastern terminus of M in Plymouth Township.
As a part of these maintenance responsibilities, the department tracks the volume of traffic that uses the roadways under its jurisdiction. These volumes are expressed using a metric called annual average daily trafficwhich is a statistical calculation of the average daily number of vehicles on a segment of roadway.
In JulyM was signed on a north—south route that ran most of the length of the Lower Peninsula, beginning at the Ohio state line south of Hudson to end three miles 4. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Official Highway Map Map.
Lansing: Michigan State Highway Department. Retrieved October 17, — via Michigan History Center. Michigan Department of Transportation.State Route 14 SR 14 is a north—south state highway in the U.
The southern portion of the highway is signed as the Antelope Valley Freeway. The southern part of the constructed route is a busy commuter freeway serving and connecting the cities of Santa Clarita, Palmdaleand Lancaster to the rest of the Greater Los Angeles area. This section is rural, following the line between the hot Mojave desert and the forming Sierra Nevada mountain range. The southern portion of the freeway, from I-5 to the Avenue D exit near Lancasterhas been designated the Antelope Valley Freeway by the state legislature.
This is the busiest portion of the route with an annual average daily traffic AADT count ofvehicles per day. The ascent is mostly rugged and rural terrain, with only two small towns along the ascent, first Agua Dulce and later Acton. Between the two towns, the freeway forms the southern boundary of Vasquez Rocks Parka county park. After cresting both mountain passes, the highway descends into the Antelope Valleya large valley within the Mojave Desert.
In Rosamond, the highway passes close to Edwards Air Force Basewhich was often used as one of the main landing strips for NASA 's space shuttle, and as the base for the X and many other air and spacecraft. The character of the highway changes as it leaves California City with the last interchange located at California City Boulevard. Now a divided highway with at-grade intersectionsdeparts the corridor of the main Southern Pacific Line, to follow the crest of the forming Sierra Nevada mountains.
The route continues to follow a branch line of the Southern Pacific used as a connector for the Trona Railway. The main line of the railroad proceeds towards the Central Valley via Tehachapi Pass. Traffic counts drop dramatically as the highway becomes more rural, with an AADT of 3, vehicles at the northern terminus.
A dirt road was completed in the s from what had been a pack trail. While significantly longer than the more direct Ridge Route east of modern I-5Tehachapi Pass is lower than Tejon Pass along the Ridge Route, with a longer, less steep grade on the descent into the Central Valley.
Although plans were to eventually convert this acquired line to standard gauge, most of the line was abandoned before the conversion was complete. However, the southern portion of this line is still active and used for connections to the Trona Railway. The Midland Trail was one of the first organized coast-to-coast trails in the United States.
The former routing south of Mojave and the current routing to the north is still known as Sierra Highway. Further portions in the intercanyon areas of Acton to Soledad Pass were completed by The freeway was completed to Mojave by The interchange has partially collapsed twice due to earthquakes: the Sylmar earthquake and the Northridge earthquake.
Intwo tractor-trailer trucks collided in a tunnel along the truck lanes for southbound I-5 at the interchange. A resulting fire started, soon encompassing the entire tunnel along with 30 other trucks and one passenger vehicle that were in the tunnel at the time. The truck tunnel was closed for several days for structural damage inspections and repairs. The interchange with Sierra Highway at Via Princessa in Santa Clarita has an unusual design, with long flyover ramps for the connections.
Several proposals have been made to bypass the Antelope Valley Freeway by boring a tunnel under the San Gabriel Mountains and extending the Glendale Freeway through it to the Antelope Valley. InCaltrans published a map showing potential improvements to the transportation infrastructure of southern California. Except where prefixed with a letter, postmiles were measured on the road as it was inbased on the alignment that existed at the time, and do not necessarily reflect current mileage.
R reflects a realignment in the route since then, M indicates a second realignment, L refers an overlap due to a correction or change, and T indicates postmiles classified as temporary for a full list of prefixes, see the list of postmile definitions. The numbers reset at county lines; the start and end postmiles in each county are given in the county column. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

The lack of adequate east-west Interstate highway access has provided a significant impediment to travel throughout the region, served as a severe obstacle to the attraction of industry and jobs, and has been a detriment to public health and transportation safety. Have already recommended Nordic Visitor to a number of fellow travellers and friends. You should be proud of the service you offer. This was only due to time limitations after arriving from our Iceland flight. Many thanks for making our adventure to Greenland a truly memorable and treasured trip. Our experience was a very positive one. Got your contact from an article in International Travel News written by someone we had met on a trip to Svalbard with several years earlier.
We had a fantastic holiday all round and are very likely to return. The information supplied by Nordic Visitor concerning the volcanic activity was very timely and helpful too.

For us the self-guided tour worked perfectly. The snowmobiling on the glacier tour and the super jeep to Askja were outstanding.
The guides were wonderful and the experience was other worldly. The river rafting tour was probably most exciting and fun tour we took and we would highly recommend.
Hilmar was an excellent travel consultant. We made a change in our original plan for the start of the trip shortly before the trip and Hilmar handled everything excellently.
From start to finish, it was a very easy experience and we got from the trip exactly what we were expecting and more in most cases. Special thanks to our agent Gudrun who provided us with the package details and answered my questions prior to booking and during our trip. Ozkan is a mountain guide in Turkey so he is very aware of the preparation needed to enable a smooth trip of the sort we experienced.
We both felt the service we received was outstanding. We did not use the GPS that came with the hire car because with the quality of the maps and information provided there was no need.
All the places we stayed were very welcoming, very clean and the breakfasts, especially the bread, were often outstanding. We were also very lucky with the weather but doubtless that is beyond your control.
We would just like to say thank you for your superb organisation, excellent provision of information and selection of places to stay that helped us to have an outstanding holiday.
We were very impressed with all the areas of Norway that we saw.Interstate 5 \u0026 CA-14 in Santa Clarita, California

The Clarets succumbed to a 1-0 defeat at Leicester City last weekend with Demarai Gray netting in just the sixth minute. Meanwhile, Watford are also winless in the last two outings.
The previous meeting between the sides was at Vicarage Road which Watford won by a 2-1 score. Our betting tips and predictions anticipate a Burnley win. The Hornets have done exceptionally well on their travels with four wins in seven outings, but they face a Burnley side, who are difficult to beat in front of their fans.
Burnley recently lost 1-0 to Arsenal at Turf Moor, but they looked comfortable on the pitch barring the last-gasp penalty which cost them the match. Their home form is even better with four clean sheets and just three goals allowed in seven matches.
Nevertheless, they have struggled in the scoring department with just five goals. In contrast, Watford have scored at least two goals in all seven of their away trips with three clean sheets. However, with Watford in a contest, we expect an open encounter with at least three goals involved in their last five games on the road.
